However, based on scientific studies and clinical experience we can determine which conditions are most likely to receive benefit from our program. The best way to find out if you are a candidate is to call us at 480-730-0343 to set up a free consultation or to fax us a copy of the written results of your x-ray or MRI to 480-730-0155. |
Make sure to include a number to reach you on the fax so that we can call you back. NOTE: Treatment with the VAX-D therapeutic table requires an MRI or x-ray report. |

|
| Q. How soon will I feel better? |
| A. Although some patients are very lucky and experience significant improvements in their low back or neck condition almost immediately, most patients will follow a course of slow, gradual improvement over time. Some patients report increased muscle soreness following the first couple of treatments. This is to be expected as the treatment involves stretching and exercising muscles and tissues that may not have been used in a long time. |
Some patients do not feel a difference until after their 20th visit. Others describe small changes by the second week of physical therapy at Spinedex Physical Therapy USA, Inc. In general patients begin to describe small changes by the second week of physical therapy at Spinedex Physical Therapy USA Inc. In general, a health course of therapy follows a gradual progression and takes time for all the changes to occur and symptoms to resolve. |

|
| Q. How long will the results last? |
| A. The goal of Spinedex Physical Therapy USA Inc. is to allow for the disc to repair itself and heal, therefore, the results are for the most part permanent. However, if you have had one disc related injury, you will always have a predisposition for further disc injuries. This is the reason that Spinedex Physical Therapy USA Inc. believes so strongly in incorporating strengthening and education into our physical therapy program. |
We want to decompress and heal your discs, but also provide you with the muscle strength to support your spine in the future and provide you with the knowledge of how to take care of your back. We believe that by combining these areas we can best assist you in prevention of future injuries. |

|
| Q. Will I be able to continue working and exercising while receiving treatment? |
| A. Most patients that come into therapy and have been on a regular exercise routine and/or working will be able to continue to do so through the therapy process. Patients are asked to abstain from participating in certain activities that may be detrimental to the healing process and damaging to the discs during the time they are in active therapy. Such activities include exercise involving high-impact forces (i.e. running, high-impact aerobics, jogging, etc.), competitive sports with high probability of tackle or impact injury (i.e. football, soccer, basketball, rugby, etc.), activities requiring heavy repetitive, lifting, twisting, or bending (i.e. work related activities, golf, etc.), exercise where weight is pressed or pushed up overhead compressing the spine (i.e. overhead press, leg press, etc), and continuing to perform any activity that causes increased pain in your low back or legs. |
The reason for asking that people avoid such activities is to ensure that the disc is not compressed any more than it has to be and that no additional damage is being done to the disc while it is trying to heal. Any patient that has a regular exercise program will have the opportunity to discuss it with the therapist to make sure that all the exercises are safe for their back. |

|
| Q. Are follow-up visits necessary? |
| A. Experience has shown that the majority of our recovered patients generally remain in remission. However, some individuals whose lifestyle or work environment tends to expose them to higher risk factors or who suffer from severe disc degeneration have found that a maintenance program, consisting of one or two treatments per month offers a measure of protection against disabling exacerbation of their pain. |
Patients in this category tend to develop their own rhythm of maintenance visits that keep them relatively free of pain. |

| Q. How does VAX-D vary from traditional traction? |
| A. Traction operates on a similar principle to VAX-D but is not as effective. Traction, in some cases, helps to stretch the lumbar spine and can reduce the pressure on the back from 75 mmHg to around 40 mmHg. In many cases, however, traction triggers the body's normal stretch reflex and causes muscle spasms to occur that can actually worsen the pain. VAX-D's patented Program Logic Control allows distraction pressure to be applied at computer precise timings that do not trigger the body's normal stretch reflex, therefore preventing muscle spasm from occurring. |
This allows VAX-D to achieve for greater levels of distraction than previously thought possible. Because of these patented principles VAX-D has been clinically proven to reduce intradiscal pressure into the negative realms of -150 to -200 mmHg. This reduction in pressure creates a vacuum like state within the discs that helps the discs and joints to get back into their normal positions and actually helps the back to mend itself, naturally. |

Post-surgical patients may have pain for a variety of reasons including weakness, scar tissue or directly from pressure of remaining disc material.
